Silence Wang’s “AGE OF ROMANCE” World Tour Redefines Live Audio at the Bird’s Nest

During August, Silence Wang launched his AGE OF ROMANCE World Tour at Beijing’s National Stadium (Bird’s Nest), marking his 100th career stadium show and a landmark 10-night residency. Supplied by OST Productions, the system succeeded in bringing immersive spatial audio to more than 60,000 audience members on each night of the unprecedented run, the production achieved an industry first: the world’s largest stadium-scale deployment of the d&b Soundscape system, powered by object-based processing to deliver uniform, high-fidelity immersive sound across every seat.

Overcoming Acoustic Challenges
The Bird’s Nest—a venue known for intense reflections, vast depth, and steep bowl seating—presents extreme acoustic hurdles. Traditional stereo setups often suffer from treble roll-off, muddy bass, and poor imaging outside the central sweet spot. To solve this, sound designer Shaogang Jin, along with OST Productions and d&b audiotechnik Greater China, engineered a 360-degree object-based acoustic network.

Cutting-Edge System Architecture

d&b Soundscape Engine: Managed via Create.Control and driven by the DS100 processor, treating vocals, instruments, and spatial effects with localized audio objects.

En-Scene placed sound sources accurately across three dimensions for a "sweet spot everywhere" experience. En-Space actively mitigated venue reverberation, tightening low-end decay and ensuring pristine vocal clarity.

d&b SL-Series audio system: Features 7 KSL array hangs for main reinforcement, 11 GSL array hangs along the upper dome for surround audio, SL-SUBs with cardioid directivity control to eliminate stage bleed, and ArrayProcessing alignment across delayed zones.

Proving Spatial Audio at Scale
Shaogang and the audio team spent two months pre-configuring multitrack spatial trajectories at d&b’s Beijing Soundscape Experience Center. The effort paid off: audience members—even those in upper, far-stand tiers—experienced crystal-clear vocals, localized instrumentation, and dynamic 360-degree spatial effects without echo or harsh reflections.

This milestone proves that object-based spatial audio is no longer confined to theaters or festivals. By bringing d&b Soundscape to a 60,000-capacity arena, Silence Wang’s production sets a new benchmark for global stadium touring.
