The Eclipse Hour

Rooted in the slower rhythms of the older generation and enriched by the expressive individuality of the younger generation, the residence weaves together a harmonious living environment that transcends age and lifestyle. Sunlight becomes the design's guiding axis, while time shapes the home's atmosphere. As warm daylight filters through solid wood window frames, the delicate grain of natural timber and the quiet texture of microcement unfold across a pure white backdrop. Free from excessive ornamentation, the space lets light and shadow become its most natural decoration, creating a gentle rhythm.
Within this setting, the calm restraint of the shared spaces and the stronger personal character of the private areas coexist in balance. The home becomes more than a physical container for daily life; it is a timeless setting where memories from different generations can accumulate, overlap, and evolve together with the changing light.
The project is centered on two key ideas: balancing generational aesthetics and reimagining the layout of an aging residence. Designed as a semi-retirement home for three generations, the main challenge was to meet the older residents’ desire for a warm, accessible Japanese-inspired environment while also responding to the younger homeowners’ preference for a more avant-garde, expressive style.
The public areas therefore embrace a gentle Japanese aesthetic, emphasizing warmth, simplicity, and ease of movement; the private spaces adopt a more immersive, individualized character, including a bold e-sports-inspired atmosphere. Through careful spatial planning, contrasting palettes, and clearly defined yet interconnected zones, the design bridges generational differences and creates an inclusive home to support multiple lifestyles under one roof.
The public areas embrace a bright, airy palette, interweaving natural white and warm timber tones with the subtle texture of light-gray microcement. Daylight diffuses gently across these understated surfaces, creating a soft interplay of light and shadow and shaping a tranquil atmosphere inspired by the warmth and restraint of Japanese aesthetics.
Upon entering the private areas, however, the visual language shifts dramatically. An immersive dark palette is paired with stainless steel panels, metallic detailing, and RGB linear lighting inspired by the circuitry of computer chips, creating a bold.
