Grounded in the cultural context of Hefei and taking the magnolia grandiflora as its spiritual emblem, this project reconfigures and integrates Eastern intangible cultural heritage with modern residential aesthetics, crafting a contemporary dwelling that echoes the spirit of "Yi" — one that bears the depth of culture while unfolding the ease of life.
Drawing from the genes of Huizhou architecture and Jianghuai intangible heritage, the design does not seek to replicate tradition, but rather to translate Eastern imagery as its core methodology. Celeste-glazed surfaces establish an elegant tone, hand-carved magnolia reliefs embody the spatial soul, and the ceiling's evolution from bud to bloom visualizes the passage of time — effecting an emotional transition from "presentation" to "return."
Guided by the emotional thread of "coming home is coming to oneself," full-height glass panels invite nature into the garden, dissolving the boundary between architecture and nature. The sunken negotiation area leverages spatial elevation to foster a relaxed social atmosphere; the children's reading zone softens edges with curvilinear forms, while paper-cut backlit artworks subtly convey folk aesthetics. The space unfolds in layers, progressing from ceremonial grandeur to tranquil serenity, culminating in bespoke embroidered murals and curated objet d'art that compose a spiritual void — a pause for the soul.
