STELLAR BAY is located in Westlands District, Nairobi, Kenya - the core of Africa's Silicon Valley - offering convenient transportation and mature infrastructure, combining the value of natural scenery with urban connectivity. The project covers 2,906.89 square meters of land, with a total floor area of 65,609.96 square meters, featuring two towers housing 696 units. The podium level includes commercial and supporting facilities, positioning the development as a benchmark residential project in the region.
Inspired by the native fig tree on site, architects took the image of the tree as the starting point for design, extending the vitality, inclusiveness, and rootedness symbolized by the fig tree, transforming the building into a modern extension of the site's memory. The tree’s life cycle—rooting, growing, and reaching upward—corresponds to the architectural structure: base podium, tower body, and top space. Additionally, the design incorporates regional cultural elements—traditional East African tribal geometric patterns (repeating triangles, zigzag lines, rhombus units)—to give the building a distinct local cultural identity. The inclusion of a "lighthouse" tower symbolizes guidance in modern civilization, representing leadership in economic, social, and cultural development.
For human-scale experiences, the podium's pedestrian areas feature skin-friendly, warm-textured building materials that harmonize with the technological feel of 3D large screens, balancing humanistic warmth with contemporary aesthetics. To support the implementation of vertical greenery, weather-resistant and low-maintenance vegetation and planting systems are tailored to garden spaces at varying elevations, ensuring the long-term vitality of the "vertical forest." Finally, to reduce energy consumption in landmark operations, the rooftop lighting system employs programmable LED fixtures that adapt to visual requirements across different time periods, minimizing unnecessary energy use.
