Rooted in the Doctrine of the Mean, the idea of ‘Endless Flow’ speaks to life’s continuity and the legacy of generations. In an Eastern context, ‘River’ symbolizes not only a waterway but also the essence of time and space. ‘Flow’ signifies the passage of time and the constant change of all things. It represents the ongoing transformations in the world, moments that cannot be relived, and each instant that flows like water, giving birth to new beginnings.
The design embodies ‘Flow’ as a spatial experience, weaving together time, light, breath, and the textures of daily life. Rather than a static structure, it represents a living environment in constant evolution. Like a flowing river, the cultivation of life and virtue is a continuous, ever advancing journey. The main and secondary pathways resemble the primary and tributary flows of a river, interweaving to form an organic network, where movement slows into living, and life warmly cradled and nurtured.
Within a 62-square-meter interior, the design is conceived around the narrative of ‘Flowing River’. Spatial circulation, light, and materiality unfold in a continuous sequence, allowing openness, transparency, and a sense of ongoing vitality to emerge within a compact footprint. Natural daylight moves through, registering the passage of time and activating the interior environment. Materials such as metal, glass, and stone—each with distinct reflective qualities—shift in expression as one navigates the space. Indirect lighting, as if echoing ‘the subtle glow beneath water’, introduces layered depth and fluidity, culminating in an immersive ambiance of luminous movement.
The design prioritizes environmental responsibility as a fundamental principle rather than an added value. Certified green-label paints and materials are carefully selected, replacing conventional building materials with low-emission, low-formaldehyde, and recyclable alternatives to reduce environmental impact and resource consumption. At every stage of construction, the space maintains a conscientious relationship with nature, resulting in a residential environment that embodies health, safety, and long-term sustainability.
