Urban Xanadu

Located in the urban core of Fuzhou, the project occupies a rare site that brings together the city’s historical central axis, prime urban resources, and the distinctive ecological landscape of mountains, pagodas, and river systems. Rooted in Fuzhou’s maritime spirit and its gentle, jade-like cultural temperament, the design draws from local history and humanistic heritage to establish a contemporary benchmark for ultra-luxury residential living. By deconstructing the cultural context of the Min capital and integrating Haipai cultural influences, the project takes “the wind of the sky and the waves of the sea” as its narrative thread, echoing the city’s ecological pattern while reinterpreting the essence of Ziyang culture in a modern language. The result is a refined spiritual homeland that bridges historical depth with contemporary aesthetics.
Approaching local culture from a micro perspective, the design introduces art as an active spatial medium, expanding the expressive boundaries of traditional landscape design. Guided by the theme “Brilliant as Gold, Gentle as Jade,” four bespoke emotional experience spaces are arranged along a circular circulation route, drawing on the spatial wisdom of classical gardens. From the ceremonial entrance courtyard to the elevated secret garden, the interplay of stone, metal, light and shadow, together with seasonal plant changes, reimagines Fuzhou’s natural and cultural imagery in a contemporary scenic composition that balances ritual presence with poetic atmosphere.
The project is shaped by a philosophy of bespoke artistic aesthetics grounded in natural ecology. Through minimalist modern lines, curated sculptural elements, refined water features, artistic landscape walls, and custom lighting, the garden space is conceived as a walkable artwork, offering both gallery-level visual quality and an immersive living experience.
Advanced construction technologies support this vision. CNC waterjet cutting is applied to precisely shape parametric water features and carved stone surfaces, seamlessly integrating technological precision with refined material expression.
Sustainability is embedded throughout the project’s life cycle. By respecting original terrain, selecting native plant species, optimizing material usage, and integrating water recycling, sponge city strategies, and biodiversity-friendly design, the project achieves a balanced enhancement of ecological performance and residential quality.
