The project is located on a rare prime site in the core area of Chengdu Financial City and draws its creative origin from the mythological imagery of “Duguang Zhiye” in ancient Shu civilization. Rooted in Chengdu’s distinctive landscape character—defined by mountains and water—the design establishes an overarching spatial framework of “northern mountains, southern marshes, and a sacred Jianmu tree running through the center.” Through this structure, the project achieves an integrated narrative that unifies mythological expression, local symbiosis, and immersive three-dimensional experience.
Breaking away from conventional flat landscaping, the design introduces a four-tier vertical landscape system extending from the first basement level to the second floor. Each level corresponds to vegetation communities found at different altitudes, forming a layered ecological sequence within the dense urban core. A continuous looping circulation connects these vertical landscapes, transforming them from purely visual elements into an experiential environment that supports exploration, leisure, and social interaction. In this way, the landscape becomes inhabitable and perceptible, expanding its function beyond ornamentation into a multi-dimensional ecological space.
Responding to the monumental scale of the main entrance, a custom sculptural installation serves as the spatial focal point. Composed of fluid hand-cast copper lines that trace mountain ridges in shifting light and shadow, the sculpture evokes the poetic imagery of sunlit peaks unfolding like gilded silk. Together with cascading water features and a fairy-pond-inspired landscape rendered through gradient paving, the entrance sequence presents a rich, layered visual experience where art and nature coexist harmoniously.
Material selection was guided by extensive on-site research to authentically reinterpret regional landforms. Gradient stone materials inspired by Jiuzhaigou’s iconic landscapes were carefully chosen to recreate the depth and translucency of cascading waterfalls and ponds, ensuring both visual authenticity and material integrity.
Rejecting superficial regional symbolism, the design emphasizes genuine local symbiosis. Through vertical greening and ecological continuity, it extends Chengdu’s mountain-and-water landscape into the city’s core, enhancing ecological value while nurturing cultural resonance. The result is a refined urban residential environment that offers both a spiritual retreat and a deep sense of belonging—rooted in place, yet resonant with universal human aspirations.
