Cloud Ledger is a fog-harvesting tea pavilion proposed for a high-altitude terraced tea landscape, where mist, water, agriculture, and ritual continuously overlap. Conceived as a small architectural instrument rather than a conventional tourist facility, the project transforms passing fog into a visible spatial and environmental experience.
The pavilion is organized as a thin contour line embedded into the hillside. A low stone plinth follows the existing terraces, while a lightweight canopy of timber ribs and woven mesh hovers above it like a cloud caught by the mountain. As fog moves through the site, droplets collect on the mesh roof, travel through integrated channels, and fall into a sequence of shallow basins. Visitors follow this movement of water through an arrival path, fog gallery, water court, tea room, and overlook.
The project upgrades a modest mountain trail into a quiet cultural destination without overwhelming the landscape. Its architecture remains open, permeable, and low-impact: slender timber columns, local stone, translucent mesh, bronze water channels, and minimal interior spaces frame the terraces while allowing wind, mist, light, and sound to pass through. The building does not separate visitor from environment; it choreographs a slower encounter with it.
At the center of the pavilion, a circular reflecting basin receives the collected water and mirrors the sky above. Nearby, the tea room offers a warm, sheltered space for gathering and contemplation, linking the act of drinking tea to the atmospheric conditions that sustain the landscape.
Cloud Ledger asks how architecture can make invisible climate processes tangible. Fog becomes roof, water becomes memory, and the pavilion becomes a ledger of exchange between mountain, crop, climate, and visitor. Rather than treating nature as scenery, the project allows architecture to participate in the delicate systems that shape the site.
