Located in Guangzhou, the project reimagines a residence toward an elevated way of living. Starting from the original layout, the design reshapes the spatial organization and narrative. Lighting, circulation, interfaces, and spatial mood are thoughtfully orchestrated, transforming the home from a collection of functions into a cohesive, bespoke living system defined by fluid rhythm, measured precision, and understated elegance. A calm yet flexible order emerges, supporting everyday life while nurturing a sense of belonging, ease, and a vision of future living.
The original apartment presented several typical constraints: a compact entryway, congested circulation, limited depth in the living room, and the visual weight of a central structural column. The design responds with a strategic spatial intervention—reorienting the living room into a horizontal layout. The expanded lateral dimension draws the visual focus to the windows, allowing natural light to flood across the interior and shifting the atmosphere from compressed to open and luminous.
The formerly enclosed foyer is reimagined as a clear, fluid passage, with curved walls guiding the eye forward and establishing a layered spatial sequence. Rather than being concealed, the central structural column is redefined as a focal point—integrated with a tea counter and multifunctional surfaces. Floating wooden cabinetry introduces subtle boundaries, maintaining visual openness while gently delineating zones. Soft seating paired with greenery supports a range of everyday rituals—from family interaction and hands-on activities to afternoon tea—allowing the space to shift effortlessly between moments of solitude and gathering.
The dining area features a marble round table and lightweight chairs, fostering a warm and relaxed atmosphere for everyday conversation. In the master bedroom, curved ceiling contours and sheer fabrics soften spatial boundaries, while silk bedding, a finely sheared wool carpet, and warm lighting further enrich the sensory experience. The walk-in closet is integrated with a dressing area, conceived as a private hub for multifunctional use. Consistent wood finishes unify the surfaces, lending the space a sense of calm and order.
