Ministry of Culture in Damascus - Designed to be a modern cultural icon that interprets the city's rich architectural heritage in a new way through a clear and unified institutional vision. The entire design revolves around a central administrative building that is a metaphor of leadership and cultural authority.

The core of the building is encircled by the eight specialized departmental buildings, each of which is functioning independently but still spatially and symbolically connected to the core. This arrangement is the Damascene house concept, which is the inspiration behind the architecture, where the central courtyard connects the individual spaces, which work as one entity.

The master plan is derived from the geometry of the Damascene star, which is used as an organizing principle rather than a decorative one, to structure mass, circulation, and public spaces. Water elements are featured on the nodes that strengthen the centrality and recall the historic role of fountains in Damascene architecture.

The architectural expression entails a combination of a well, disciplined geometry with fluid and ascending roof forms that visually direct the complex toward its center, a metaphor of unity and the collective cultural aspiration. The facades are detailed through a contemporary language of rhythmic vertical lines, which are the metaphor of the layers of history, knowledge, and artistic expression, whereas the ground surfaces are extracted from the real Damascene patterns to fabricate culturally resonant public realms.

The Ministry, which is designed as an open and accessible urban environment, goes beyond its administrative function to become an active cultural space, thus, it is a reaffirmation of Syrian culture as a living identity expressed through architecture rooted in history and articulated for the future.
