The No. 59 Brunch reimagines the neighborhood café as a gentle conversation between light, architecture, and community.
Located along a quiet Taipei lane, the project transforms an aging building into a serene, open, and breathing space that connects with the rhythm of its street.
The façade is defined by a semi-circular glass door and full-height windows that can fully open to dissolve boundaries between interior and exterior. When unfolded, sunlight, breeze, and the sound of the city flow inward, turning breakfast hours into a shared neighborhood ritual.
At the back, a wall of glass blocks filters daylight softly into the space, preserving privacy while maintaining a luminous calm.
Inside, the palette remains minimal yet tactile: mineral-textured plaster, brushed stainless steel, and polished concrete compose a quiet harmony of tone and texture. Linear backlighting along the main seating wall outlines a warm horizon, balancing roughness with visual softness.
The bar counter, clad in steel and natural stone, becomes the sculptural core—where precision meets rawness, and craft meets calm.
Every design gesture celebrates light as a living material—diffusing, reflecting, and shifting with time.
By opening the café fully to the street, the design encourages a sense of connection and inclusion; at night, the softly glowing interior turns the building into a lantern of warmth for the neighborhood.
The brunch embodies mindful simplicity—minimal but not cold, modern yet deeply human.
It is a space that allows the city to breathe, and where the first light of morning becomes architecture itself.
