Since 2009, the Bureau of Cultural Heritage, MOC has championed the "Important Traditional Arts Transmission Program," fostering the next generation of artisans. To date, over 100 apprentices have successfully completed their training, carrying forward traditional craftsmanship and marking a pivotal milestone in cultural heritage preservation. This exhibition reimagines the transmission of Taiwan’s intangible cultural heritage through immersive storytelling, blending animation, video, comics, and multimedia installations to create an engaging and dynamic experience. By weaving together visuals, sound, and interactive elements, the exhibition brings to life the journey of learning, mastering, and innovating traditional crafts.
Structured across five thematic sections, the exhibition invites visitors on a compelling exploration of 22 traditional arts and the transformative journeys of 114 apprentices. The section "the journey we walk together" delves into their personal inspirations—whether rooted in childhood memories, family heritage, or unexpected encounters—that sparked their dedication. "the emitting talents by the student" captures their evolution, revealing the resilience and breakthroughs that shape their unique artistic voices.
In "the 100+ traditional artists," visitors witness how traditional craftsmanship thrives in a modern context through the diverse creations and performances of these skilled apprentices. The final section, "the next artist we are," extends an invitation to become part of this living legacy—through interactive experiences, visitors can immerse themselves in the world of traditional arts and perhaps take their first step as the next generation of cultural bearers.
By seamlessly integrating technology, innovation, and cultural heritage, this exhibition transcends time, offering a vision of tradition that is not just preserved but continuously reborn. It is a testament to the enduring power of artistry, inviting all to witness, participate, and carry forward the legacy of Taiwan’s rich cultural heritage.
