In my project Fractal Reveries, I explore the relationship between the personal and collective unconscious. Dreams are hidden spaces where individual psychic imagery takes shape. Through these dreamscapes, I trace the birth of the personal unconscious and use fractal symbolism as a bridge to the collective unconscious. Fractals, with their self‑similar patterns, mirror how personal motifs echo archetypal structures across cultures.
My design translates this framework into wearable art. Jewellery is not merely decorative; it carries narrative. With coloured pencils, I record recurring dream motifs—moths, fragmented faces, spirals, floating objects, dissolving boundaries. These drawings become the raw material for my unconscious storylines, emotional cartographies rather than literal illustrations. In translating them into jewellery, I externalise internal states, making the invisible visible.
Through forms, textures, and spatial relationships, I explore the collective unconscious. This unconscious is not separate from the individual; it arises from personal thought yet links to a larger heritage, as a body grows from its cells while belonging to an ecosystem. I study how jewellery interacts with the body—through proportion, weight, placement, and movement. The body becomes both canvas and participant, completing each piece.
In making, I carve wax by hand, subconsciously shaping dreams into tangible forms. The wax holds traces of my fingers—hesitations, pressures, corrections—so each finished object carries its own making memory. Gemstones are set with colours that reflect dream intensity. I keep the raw, handmade quality, embracing irregularities machine production cannot replicate.
Ultimately, this project is about connection: mind and matter, self and other, personal and universal. By making jewellery, I materialise my memories and thoughts, while inviting viewers to project their own unconscious narratives onto the work. The jewellery becomes a mirror for both maker and beholder. It aims to be visually arresting, yet its deeper purpose is to prompt quiet reflection on consciousness, dreaming, and our shared human experience.
