This project adopts a palette of white, gray, and light wood tones with soft saturation and subtle contrast, creating a calm and understated visual foundation. Against this muted backdrop, the rich textures of the materials naturally become the focal point of the space. Finished the walls with handcrafted mineral coatings layered to preserve their organic and imperfect textures, transforming the traces and irregularities of the old house into a renewed spatial character. Warm wood finishes, natural stone, and refined iron details are thoughtfully integrated within the clean white framework, while the carefully balanced proportions of each material establish a harmonious and elegant atmosphere. Together, these elements create a serene living environment defined by timeless beauty and a quiet sense of daily rhythm.
Reconfigured the first floor into an open-plan communal space with a reduced density of furniture and decorative elements to suit the homeowner’s irregular schedule and lifestyle. A variety of lighting fixtures and layered light sources were strategically arranged across the ceilings and walls, allowing the atmosphere and spatial function to shift effortlessly according to different activities and occasions. The result is a highly adaptable environment that accommodates both everyday living and social gatherings with ease.
At the same time, the renovation was designed with long-term livability in mind. An elevator was installed at the far end of the home opposite the entrance hall, while the staircase was redesigned with gentler height transitions and widened steps to improve accessibility and comfort. Straightforward circulation paths with minimal turns were incorporated throughout each level, ensuring greater safety and convenience for residents of all ages, while supporting the family’s evolving needs well into the future.
Rooted in the design team’s philosophy of “returning to nature,” the project minimizes the use of composite materials, excessive surface coverings, and overly decorative construction methods. Instead, exploited environmentally friendly mineral paints and handcrafted finishes to preserve the building’s original structural character and traces of time. This approach not only reduces unnecessary material waste and excessive renovation interventions but also highlights the purity of minimalist aesthetics.
