Driven by 5G and Generative AI: A Contemporary Gesamtkunstwerk Reconstructing the Classics of Bach

This project explores the deep structures of sound, space, and time, transforming the Weiwuying Concert Hall—home to Asia’s largest pipe organ—into a "future architecture of sound" that transcends time and space. It is a contemporary Gesamtkunstwerk (total work of art) practice that profoundly subverts sensory perception.

The performance centers on J.S. Bach’s classic pipe organ repertoire. On an aesthetic level, Bach’s rigorous counterpoint serves as a microcosmic manifestation of cosmic order and rational logic. Abandoning traditional pre-recorded videos, we employ the TouchDesigner system as a spatial decoder. Powered by 5G low-latency transmission and a generative visual engine, the system captures the massive airflow and sound waves of the organ in real-time, instantly translating invisible polyphonic harmonies into visible geometric light fields.

Even more groundbreaking is the integration of AI Gaussian Splatting simulation technology. Through this, grandiose classical sounds are endowed with a visual incarnation, transforming into 3D volumetric light and shadows with fluid textures and deep spatial penetrability [5, 7]. In this exact moment, the physical architecture, the millennial instrument, the performer's live actions, and the generative algorithms merge into a mutually perceiving organic lifeform.

Sound is no longer an auditory phantom that dissipates with time; it becomes a dynamic sculpture continuously breathing in space. By redefining the existential nature of classical art through advanced technology, this project turns fleeting musical energy into an eternally flowing architecture of light, presenting a profoundly new paradigm for the international contemporary immersive soundscape.
