NO ME MIRES

This collection explores the symbolism of the evil eye and the emotional weight of being seen. The project stems from my personal relationship with protection, superstition, and cultural rituals surrounding the gaze. I was inspired by the belief that a look can carry energy, and wanted to translate that invisible tension into something physical and wearable.
Through sculptural silhouettes, eye motifs, and protective symbols, garments are transformed into modern talismans. The pieces act as both armor and expression: they protect, but they also confront. Structure, layering, and intentional detailing are used to reflect the push and pull between vulnerability and defense. Red becomes symbolic of power, spirituality, and protection, while exaggerated forms create a barrier between the body and the outside world. "No Me Mires" questions what it means to exist in a world where we are constantly observed, socially, culturally, and digitally. I am fascinated by the idea that one person’s energy could affect another, and that someone else could use their own energy to heal. That fascination became the foundation for the collection.
The color palette centers on red, a color traditionally believed to ward off the evil eye. The sculptural silhouettes echo the rounded shape of the eye, while the exaggerated scales suggest the emotional weight of the sight. The collection becomes a response to that tension while garments become a symbolic shield. The collection is about reclaiming power through design, turning fear into strength, and reshaping superstition into contemporary fashion language.
The concept of the evil eye is explored through sculptural form and textile innovation, including felting, crochet, sublimation, smocking, and laser cutting. The handwork and months of textile development felt deeply personal and almost ritualistic, reminiscent of a healing ritual against the evil eye
