This project, centered on “light wabi-sabi,” creates a tranquil, relaxing living atmosphere through a thoughtful layout and refined textures. It revolutionizes traditional residential forms and serves as a gentle response to the rhythms of everyday life.
The project features a double-height ceiling combined with a split-level duplex layout, adopting curved floor slabs and glass railings to blur the visual boundaries between floors—preserving vertical openness and eliminating the sense of structural heaviness. In the common areas, traditional partitions are replaced with elements including door openings, columns, and glass to delineate zones. This strategy ensures an uninterrupted sightline and seamless light flow among the living room, dining area, kitchen, and courtyard, resulting in a cohesive living environment. Vertical surfaces along staircases and walls are cleverly activated, creating a climbing wall, a blackboard wall, and a rope net play area for parent-child interaction—establishing an engaging 3D activity zone within a compact footprint. The outdoor courtyard, as an extension of the interior, utilizes softly curved platforms and richly layered greenery to give residents an immersive experience as if living in nature, achieving a seamless transition between the indoor decor and the nature outside.
The project mainly uses low-saturation earth tones like creamy white, light brown, and natural wood, forming a consistent, soothing visual backdrop. Walls employ artistic matte paint that boasts a fine-grained texture, while floors are finished with either herringbone-laid wood or washed terrazzo, enriching the sensory experience through distinctive contrasts. Soft furnishings incorporate natural materials such as linen and rattan, complemented by curved furniture and localized arc-shaped details, deepening the space’s sense of relaxation and gentleness.
