Founded on the philosophy of reconnecting people with nature, the design embodies a balance between urban life and outdoor experience. The space transforms a two-story retail environment into a serene, gallery-like setting that conveys the spirit of camping while expressing a commitment to sustainability. By repurposing discarded wooden beams and boards from demolished rural houses, the design grants new life to materials marked by time, preserving the memories of past generations within a modern context. These reclaimed elements form a rhythmic “tree array” that immerses visitors in a natural atmosphere from the moment they enter, while simultaneously addressing the environmental impact of urbanization and construction waste.
The project redefines retail as a medium for environmental storytelling. Through bricolage techniques, the wooden fragments—each with its own history—are integrated directly into the spatial and display systems, creating a dialogue between the past and present, tradition and innovation. This not only resonates with the brand’s sustainable development principles but also embodies the concept of a circular lifecycle, where materials are continually reused and revalued.
Metal elements, referencing the renowned craftsmanship of Japan’s Tsubame-Sanjo region, complement the warmth of the reclaimed wood. They appear in display fixtures and the central island, symbolizing precision, resilience, and the enduring relationship between human craft and nature. Additionally, the design reinterprets one of the brand’s core products—the solid stake—presenting it as both functional display and sculptural form.
The resulting space is more than a store; it is an experiential environment that invites visitors to engage with the ethos of sustainable living. Through the interplay of natural texture, minimalist spatial rhythm, and timeless craftsmanship, the design narrates a story of rebirth—transforming waste into value and reconnecting people, materials, and the natural world.
