Lume Drift is a ten-year-old residence in Hsinchu, reimagined for a family who values both order and warmth in daily living. Guided by the principle of “orderly inclusiveness,” the design reconfigures the original four-bedroom layout to balance clarity, functionality, and emotional comfort.
Public spaces are the focus of transformation. Circulation and zoning between the entry and kitchen were redefined with sliding glass doors and windows, linking the island and bar functions while balancing transparency with smoke control. Behind the sofa, the dining area becomes a multifunctional hub where dining, study, and display coexist. Wall-mounted cabinetry integrates open and concealed storage, creating a seamless environment that supports family interaction.
The ceiling design uses variations in height, wood textures, and concealed lighting strips to generate spatial depth. Black linear frames and a unified material palette reinforce continuity across walls and ceilings, extending the sense of scale. A crisp base of white, complemented by light wood and black metal accents, gives the home a clean yet dynamic character.
In private areas, a pared-down approach preserves full functionality while cultivating a tranquil, restful atmosphere. Natural light filtering through sheer curtains casts diffused shadows that echo the poetic ambience of the living room, creating a subtle dialogue between public and private zones even as they embody distinct rhythms.
Throughout, custom cabinetry is tailored to appliance types and usage frequency, ensuring unobstructed circulation and flexible use. Even irregular spaces, such as a corner in the boy’s room, are transformed into practical storage through a dual-sided unit shared with the master bedroom.
The result is a contemporary home where visual clarity, material warmth, and layered light converge. More than a place of shelter, Lume Drift is an environment where order and intimacy coexist—an everyday stage for family life shaped by both precision and poetry.
