Located in Zhubei City, Hsinchu County, this newly built residence redefines the idea of a home by merging daily life with the ambiance of music and a private bar. The design concept draws inspiration from the quiet elegance of moonlight and the immersive atmosphere of bar culture, expressed through a palette of deep tones—ink black, smoky gray, and misty blue—layered with warm wood accents. Light is not used merely for illumination but as a design medium to reveal textures, highlight objects, and create depth, evoking the calm yet emotional mood of a midnight lounge.
Each functional space is crafted with distinct highlights while maintaining overall cohesion. The entrance pairs hexagonal tiles with wood flooring for a sharp visual contrast, with concealed lighting creating a welcoming sense of ceremony. In the kitchen and dining area, a suspended matte-black iron wine rack becomes both storage and sculpture, while reflective ceiling panels amplify light and activity. The living room introduces a bluish-gray feature wall, elongated furniture, and musical instruments, creating a serene yet expressive environment. In the master suite, mauve walls, minimalist pendant lights, and black-glass wardrobes combine elegance with intimacy, while an integrated vanity maximizes functionality and spatial efficiency.
The design challenge lay in transforming a closed three-bedroom layout with a traditional kitchen into an open, flexible plan suited to the “home as bar” concept. By removing partitions and redefining circulation, the living, dining, and kitchen areas were seamlessly integrated. Material selection balanced mood and practicality: imported patterned tiles and textured finishes break monotony, while indirect lighting ensures comfort across day and night. Sustainability was integral to the project, with certified green materials and low-formaldehyde boards providing a healthy, environmentally responsible foundation.
This project delivers more than a stylish residence—it is a private retreat where music, light, and texture converge. By weaving sustainability with a sophisticated spatial narrative, it creates a poetic and emotionally resonant living environment, a hidden bar at home that embodies both serenity and character.
