Client's Name

ZIWAN TEA

Country / Region

China

This tea packaging draws inspiration from ancient Chinese ceremonial tablets (Hu). Its thoughtful, modern design reimagines the historical spirit of “presenting counsel with devotion, bearing national responsibility” into a contemporary social philosophy: “initiating trust with tea, connecting hearts with ritual.” Every tea brewing thus carries profound cultural resonance and emotional value.
Through a synergistic interplay of the physical structure and visual language, the unboxing experience unfolds as a threefold ritual: Unfolding—Reading—Savoring. The outer box echoes the elegant motion of a palace memorial (Zouzhe) being opened horizontally for the emperor’s review, while its inner side features handwritten calligraphy that merges cursive script with memorial-style typography, presenting the brand’s manifesto. This design invites consumers into an immersive cultural dialogue between the past and the present. Inside, the tea pouch abstractly reflects the “Hu” form with a striking 20cm elongated silhouette, presenting the full form of Wuyi rock tea leaves while creating a distinctive product identity. Design ingenuity extends to the refined color palette—Vermilion Gold, Elegant Purple, and Hu-Inspired White—each thoughtfully chosen to reflect cultural symbolism and natural elements. Together, they convey a sense of nobility and solemnity while aligning with contemporary aesthetic preferences. Notably, a subtle accent of the brand’s signature Elegant Purple symbolizes the withering stage in rock tea processing, a quiet yet meaningful detail that strengthens the tea’s connection to its terroir.
Beyond its cultural and aesthetic value, the packaging adheres to eco-friendly principles by utilizing FSC-certified paperboard and plant-based inks—without compromising on quality. The entire design strikes a harmonious balance between ceremonial elegance and ecological responsibility, demonstrating what a mindful design can offer.
