The design deeply integrates local Hakka culture with the surrounding natural landscape, emphasizing regional identity while crafting a relaxed, resort-like ambiance. Drawing inspiration from the basalt textures of nearby glacial relics, interior materials feature rough-textured walls and matte black flooring, forming a "dialogue between rigidity and softness" through their contrast. The overall design adheres to the principle of emphasizing soft decoration over hard decoration, presenting the spatial structure and functionality in a minimalist manner. By utilizing minimalist materials and techniques, ample white spaces are created throughout the design. In natural healing design, lighting eschews standardized hotel illumination, utilizing adjustable smart lighting and star trail-inspired lighting through large floor-to-ceiling windows. Acoustic control employs double-layered insulated glass to block wind and rain noise while preserving the stream's white noise. The space regularly hosts resident workshops by local intangible cultural heritage masters. It deeply integrates geological culture with natural healing, translating the geological features of Quaternary glaciers into spatial language. Through bamboo-woven furniture, plant installations of Taxus chinensis var. mairei, and an acoustic system utilizing the stream, it constructs a multi-dimensional natural experience. It also innovatively applies intangible cultural heritage, breaking through traditional limitations by transforming Xia cloth nto a modern functional carrier. Old objects form a "mini folk museum," endowing the space with a sense of temporal depth. Additionally, it has created a low-intervention healing system, enhancing the experience through light therapy systems and acoustic healing. The design process encountered numerous difficulties. Issues such as damage and incompleteness of old objects were addressed through restoration, mounting, classified display, and the creation of electronic archives. Xia cloth, prone to wrinkling and shrinking, was treated with composite backing technology and pre-shrinking processes, with plant-dyed Xia cloth selected. This reduced the loss rate from 25% to 8% while making the colors more durable and natural. Sustainability permeates every detail: a 100% reuse policy for recycled materials (from stone piers to wardrobes) achieves zero-waste renovation. Material carbon footprints are strictly controlled, with all timber FSC-certified and artistic coatings meeting EU Ecolabel standards.
