Located on the north side of Shengfeng Road in Xiangyang City, the hotel is nestled against the ancient Zhaoming Terrace, bordered by South Lake Park to the east and rivers to the west — an area renowned as the cradle of Three Kingdoms culture and Chu-Han heritage. As the first InterContinental luxury hotel in Xiangyang, the design challenge centered on harmonizing the region’s profound cultural legacy with the brand’s sophisticated elegance, while integrating official reception functions to create a modern luxury retreat.
Drawing inspiration from local history and cultural traditions, the design weaves iconic scenes from Xiangyang’s historical anecdotes, poetry, and art into every space. The result is a contemporary sanctuary for modern literati that embodies the refined aesthetic and seamlessly blends into the urban landscape.
The grand lobby features layered sensory experiences through strategic landscaping and artistic installations. A central courtyard echoes the outdoor scenery, while lantern-embedded screens illuminate the entrance, symbolizing hospitality. The reception’s backdrop showcases four lacquer paintings depicting Xiangyang’s iconic landscapes — Longzhong Cultivation, Southern Boats and Northern Horses, Xichi Scenic Haven, and Lumen Dawn Moon — inviting guests to step into a living historical scroll. The sunken lobby lounge, framed by 270° floor-to-ceiling windows, draws nature indoors, creating immersive visual experiences.
The Chinese restaurant exudes cultural depth through symmetrical layouts and modern reinterpretations of traditional motifs. Celadon green and feather-inspired textures blend with luxe bronze accents, while embroidered screens narrate tales of the Three Kingdoms. This fusion fosters a dialogue between space, nature, and heritage, redefining Eastern hospitality with understated opulence.
Since its opening, the hotel has garnered acclaim from both owners and hospitality operators, swiftly emerging as Xiangyang’s cultural landmark and a beloved destination for travelers.
