Bobby Mukherrji Architects brought their expertise in luxury design to Vanijya Bhawan in New Delhi, crafting an opulent 40,000 sq. ft. floor that exemplifies a harmonious blend of neo-classical Indian architecture and modern sophistication. The prestigious project, completed in 2022, serves as the headquarters for India’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry and was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Tasked with designing spaces of national and international significance, the firm delivered interiors that reflect India’s rich heritage while aligning with global standards of luxury and functionality.
Housing the offices of key officials including the Minister of Commerce and Industry and the Minister of State, this floor was meticulously designed to convey a sense of grandeur and authority. High-profile conference and meeting rooms were also conceptualized to host discussions with Indian and foreign delegates, ensuring the environment compliments the importance of the dialogues held within. These spaces serve as a stage for India's engagement with global leaders and dignitaries, offering an ambiance that is impressive and inviting.
The design ethos draws from the grandeur of Indian classical architecture, reinterpreted with modern sensibilities. Rich materials such as premium marble, intricate wood paneling, fabric-clad walls and sparkling chandeliers come together to create a regal aesthetic. Every detail, from the craftsmanship of the furnishings to the layout of the spaces, was carefully considered to embody five-star luxury standards. The result is a series of interiors that exude elegance, showcasing India's commitment to blending tradition with contemporary excellence.
The use of luxurious finishes underscores the stature of the ministry and establishes Vanijya Bhawan as a benchmark for government infrastructure. The space was designed to leave a lasting impression on visiting foreign dignitaries, reflecting India's sophistication and its position as a global leader. The interiors project an image of readiness and confidence, mirroring India's ambitions on the world stage.
Vanijya Bhawan is more than a government office; it is a symbol of India’s evolving identity - rooted in tradition yet embracing modernity. By creating an environment that balances functionality with aesthetic grandeur, Bobby Mukherrji Architects have set a new standard for institutional design in the country.
