The original architectural concept of the project advocates for a Chinese courtyard to accommodate coastal resort living, restoring the graceful charm of Jiangnan courtyards. However, at the design stage, the designer aimed to remove stylistic symbol restrictions, abandoning the pursuit of tangible elements, and sought a more ethereal state to allow people to return to inner relaxation. The space is designed to feel as light as a gentle sea breeze, recreating a dream-like atmosphere—soft and ethereal life where the sky and sea are equally bright, blending dreamy purity with gentle ripples. The white foam rises and vanishes, the tide surges and recedes, and we spend precious moments here, returning to a serene and vast state of mind, akin to the calmness of the shore. In the designers' view, an ideal residence should be tranquil, natural, simple, and private. Therefore, this project reshapes the spatial state with "fluidity," minimizing ornamentation and fostering emotional interaction among people through open public spaces, reducing obstructions to sight and light. The use of borrowed scenery enhances spatial layers, with curved openings resembling picture frames capturing the most vivid moments of life. Spaces intertwine here, and air and light flow freely. Under the stairs, an artistic concave mirror made of stainless steel is divided into fragments, reflecting images while also creating a sense of illusion, metaphorically suggesting the infinite possibilities in life. To alter the original Chinese-style pitched roof, the designers reprocessed the original structure, exposing the interior through cutting, thereby enhancing the structural interest and playfulness of the space. The master bedroom retained the pitched roof structure, using a simple frame bed to continue the Eastern aesthetic while providing a sense of enclosure. Against a pure backdrop, some elements were simplified, creating an ethereal state that accommodates all thoughts. The children's room, beyond purity, added more lively and interesting colors, summoning children to explore and dream in this primitive and dreamy place called the sea, with a vibrant and bold attitude.
