The L'Oréal Office Thailand, is a workspace that masterfully blends brand identity, functionality, and sustainability. L'Oréal, a global leader in beauty and skincare, sought a design that would reflect their strong brand character while accommodating a large number of staff and various facilities within a single, cohesive space. The project presented a unique challenge: to create an environment that not only meets functional needs but also promotes employee well-being and adheres to strict sustainability standards, culminating in the achievement of LEED Gold certification.
The conceptual framework of the design was rooted in L'Oréal's motto, "Beauty for All." This idea of diversity became the cornerstone of the design, celebrating the beauty found across different nationalities, shapes, and colours. The design team at dwp interpreted this through the use of organic shapes, most notably in the office’s central corridors, which were inspired by the silhouettes of diverse women’s faces. These corridors not only serve as the arteries of the office, linking various areas together, but also symbolise the interconnectedness and fluidity within the workspace.
The colour palette was meticulously chosen to reflect skin tones and cosmetic hues, further reinforcing L'Oréal’s brand identity. Timber laminate and creamy white tones were used throughout the space to create a neutral, elegant backdrop. Against this, strategic pops of cosmetic colours and earth-toned furnishings were introduced to add vibrancy and energy, reminding employees of the creativity and joy that L'Oréal’s products bring to the world.
Functionality and space planning were key to the success of this project. The office is designed to facilitate a seamless flow of movement and interaction. The reception area leads into a café, which connects to a pantry and then to a sky garden, creating a front-of-house sequence that encourages casual interactions. Further in, meeting rooms and office areas are positioned to support both collaboration and focused work. A significant design feature is the curved staircase that links three floors, fostering spontaneous encounters and enhancing internal communication.
The L'Oréal Office Thailand is a dynamic environment that reflects the brand’s ethos of beauty and diversity, while also prioritising sustainability and employee well-being.
