Eco-Melody: A self-sustainable resort in Cappadocia

This project envisions a resort seamlessly integrated into the scenic and magical Anatolian landscape of Avanos, in Turkey's Cappadocia Region. The design focuses on minimizing environmental impact throughout the resort's lifecycle, from construction to daily operation. By blending architecture with the natural surroundings, the resort creates a self-sufficient community that offers guests an exceptional, eco-friendly retreat while nurturing the local habitat.
The resort features a range of facilities, including a multi-purpose convention center, a restaurant set within an eco-vinery, an expansive indoor spa, and several outdoor hot springs surrounded by accommodations. The entrance area houses the reception and other amenities. The spa and hot spring water is carefully gathered and repurposed for the resort's maintenance, including the irrigation of vegetation. These plants not only enhance the landscape but also provide fresh produce for guests, reinforcing the resort's commitment to sustainability.
The architectural design draws inspiration from the region’s unique natural aesthetics, with rammed earth facades that mimic the tactile quality of Anatolia's rock formations. This approach not only celebrates the local landscape but also employs innovative 3D printing technology using on-site materials. Soil from landscaping is repurposed as the primary building material, balancing the site's cut and fill, and creating structures that harmonize with the environment.
This resort serves as a model for sustainable development, demonstrating how architecture can preserve and enhance the natural beauty of its surroundings while providing an unforgettable and environmentally conscious guest experience.
