The Nengjian • Dongchen Mansion project is situated in Yantai, China, a coastal city celebrated for its “land of fairy tales” charm. The design of the sales office and model area is inspired by the region’s rich cultural heritage of mountains and seas. It strives to harmonize the modern city with the ancient allure of Zhilai, seamlessly integrating the beauty of the natural landscape, cultural depth, and artistic elegance into the environment. By tracing the path of the mythical boat across azure waves, the project aims to uncover the essence of life and offer a unique, immersive urban experience that conveys a sense of exclusive beauty and place.
The Nengjian • Dongchen Mansion project spans approximately 13,737.38 m2 and emphasizes the integration of local culture into its design. The design team uses a storytelling approach to weave cultural narratives into the artwork, thus creating a selection system based on the artistic value of these pieces, which ensures that the theme of the space is consistently maintained, as well as enhances its cultural significance. To harmonize architecture, landscape, and interior design while creating a sense of ceremony, the project draws inspiration from the “Classic of Mountains and Seas.” The cultural narrative is reflected in the art, and the design aims to establish a harmonious relationship among “the self,” “others,” and “the space.” By incorporating a virtual local story, the design brings these narrative scenes into the spatial environment.
