After many years of living in their 128 sqm old house, a family of four, with the parents nearing retirement, decided to renovate their home.
They aim to address the clutter and aging issues of the old house and create a spacious and smooth retirement residence. Centered on the main theme of comfortable living in old age and modern minimalism, they made slight adjustments to the layout, adding an island bar in the dining area and designing both an indoor and outdoor kitchen to meet cooking needs.

The open living room and dining area are retained, with black, gray, and white tones laying the foundation for a modern minimalist style. The bathroom space is also expanded to fully incorporate a four-piece design, enhancing bathing functionality. The specially widened hallway is designed for easy wheelchair access in the future.

After slight adjustments to the layout of the old house, the dining area now includes an island, providing space for light meals and baking. The two unevenly sized secondary bedrooms were reallocated by adjusting the partition walls, evenly distributing the space so both daughters could have equal room. The additional leftover space from the adjustments was efficiently converted into a storage room, enhancing the practical functionality.

In the entirely open living and dining areas, the use of simple black, white, and gray tones highlights the clean and sharp spatial structure. The living room, defined by the main entrance and adjacent to the windows, features a foundation of white and light gray, effectively enlarging the space with bright natural light. In contrast, the kitchen and dining spaces employ black wall coverings accented with gray mirrors, creating a stark black-and-white contrast with the living room. The deep tones and reflective surfaces add visual depth and rich layers to the space.
