The project is situated at the terminus of the landscape route of "Paradise Road" in Houliao, Baisha Township, Penghu. As travelers walk along the narrow path toward the intersection of sea and sky, man-made boundaries gradually dissolve, leaving only the wind, sea, and sky. The designers thus transformed the concept of "arrival" into the core spirit of the work. The installation features a pair of wings stretching outward, blending the natural curves of sails, waves, and Penghu staghorn corals. The central archway draws on the imagery of dawn, symbolizing blessings, freedom, and a fresh start. When visitors step into the center of the wings, they complete a symbolic ritual along Paradise Road, transitioning from land to sea, and from reality to dreams.
The installation’s most distinctive feature lies in how the "wings" simultaneously fulfill four roles: sculpture, framed view, pathway, and ambient lighting. The wings unfold outward in layers of arced feathers, with branching contours inspired by the biological form of staghorn corals, allowing the large volume to maintain the light, weightless feel of marine life. At the center, a deliberate archway allows people to walk through, framing the distant horizon within the work.
The viewing experience evolves with every step. From afar, the wings serve as a striking landscape landmark at the end of Paradise Road. As visitors draw near, human scale gradually enters the sculptural composition. Standing in the center of the wings, travelers, the sea, and the sky collectively become part of the artwork. By day, viewers can appreciate the color, form, and shifting light layers of the feathers. At dusk, the warm orange center mirrors the sunset, while at night, outdoor LEDs outline the wings' profile, transforming the originally solid structure into a floating, weightless presence in the dark. The project breaks away from static photo-op installations, establishing a complete artistic experience through movement, pause, and passage.
