Imbalance: Symbiosis of Bloodlines employs installation art to interrogate the fateful bond between humanity and the ocean. At its core lies a pair of human hands at the center—subcutaneous blood vessels extend outward like vines, intertwining with the ocean’s life veins, materializing the metaphor of “symbiosis” into a visual bond. These hands embody the duality of human nature: they can pour out pitch - black, turbid polluted waste, yet also release crystal - clear, refreshing water. The tension between destruction and guardianship crystallizes into a choice of fate within the palms. The ocean’s imbalance is essentially a mirror of human choices—the harm we inflict on the ocean will ultimately backfire along the shared bloodline; while safeguarding the ocean is tantamount to protecting the very foundation of human survival. The direction in which the scale tilts has always been in human hands, and the work’s warnings and hopes are all hidden in the posture of these hands.
Crafted from glass, the work leverages the material’s transparency and fragility to metaphorize the vulnerability of marine ecosystems and the visibility of human actions: the turbidity of polluted waste and the clarity of clean water form a stark visual contrast within the glass containers, amplifying the weight of “choice”; the intertwining of blood vessels and oceanic veins, rendered through hand - blown curves, not only echoes the resilience of life but also implies the inseparability of the symbiotic relationship. The wave - shaped base and the water - patterned texture of the pillar further reinforce the “presence” of the ocean, grounding the abstract crisis of “imbalance” into a tangible reality.
This work is not only an artistic expression of ecological issues but also a self - examination of human nature: when the possibilities of destruction and guardianship coexist in the same pair of hands, and when the logic of harm and backlash is visualized through blood vessels, the audience is forced to confront a truth—the fate of the ocean has always been an extension of human fate; and the key to tipping the unbalanced scale has always been in our own hands.
