The Qidu Pujiangyuan Landscape Art Corridor is the core project for upgrading Pujiangyuan Water Conservancy Scenic Area. Building upon landscape renovation work, it deeply integrates the local sweater industry, upgrading the scenic area into China’s first nationallevel composite scenic site featuring “water conservancy landscape + artdriven cultural tourism + industrial symbiosis”.
Adopting the clustered ruralconstruction model, the project is overall coordinated by Farm+ and Dedang Design. Teachers and students from Tongji University, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University and Soochow University are invited for joint creation. Centered on the core concept of “Weavingart Symbiosis” and taking “weaving” as its core symbol, the project follows design strategies of ecologyoriented foundation, industryrooted context, community coexistence and technologyempowered development. It interprets sweaterindustry culture and the watery charm of Lake Taihu into artistic language and spatial carriers.
The design covers comprehensive landscape renovation, seven art installations, upgrades for six pairs of bus stops, two rest stations and other components. It improves waterfront greenways and public service amenities to facilitate integrated culturaltourism growth and rural revitalization in the watertown regions south of the Yangtze River.
