BrickCycle addresses two major challenges faced by Lego enthusiasts: missing pieces and the dilemma of what to do with spare bricks. In this product concept, users can deposit their idle bricks into an automated recycling machine, then select the parts they need via a touchscreen interface, complete payment, and collect them instantly onsite. I designed the entire interactive flow for both the recycling and purchasing processes, and researched material processing methods to convert discarded bricks into reusable new parts. During the research phase, I interviewed several Lego players to identify their pain points, then conducted material experiments to develop potential solutions. I created interactive prototypes and carried out usability testing, gathering real user feedback to refine the workflow iteratively. The final deliverables include highfidelity mockups, integrated with Lego’s brand aesthetics to ensure the product could realistically be deployed in physical Lego stores. BrickCycle establishes a circular reuse system – idle bricks find a new home, waste is minimised, and builders no longer have to wait for replacement shipments. It offers Lego fans a fast, convenient, and sustainable experience.
