The building of this project is based in lateritic soil, due this geographical condition, the project itself required careful consideration of the climate and the material seleted to harmonize with the surrounding landscape. The use of rust-effect paint imparts a distinctive, weathered appearance, adding charm to the exhibition space while highlighting Japanese cultural elegance and at the same time, echoing the surrounding nature, the reddish clay soil containing iron and aluminum. The thoughtful design infuses the space with a natural ambiance, transforming the exhibition center's traditional look into something unique and captivating.

Lateritic soil brings out the soft ground challenge, therefore, an adequate foundation to support the building structure become essential, it required various soil improvement techniques such as addition of stabilizing materials and compaction, to increase the bearing capacity of the soil, reduce settlement, and insulate the moist soil. Which is why the appearance of the building chooses to use rust-effect paint, to harmonize the site’s natural environment. Besides, the Client sought a layout that seamlessly integrates flow and natural light, infusing the exhibition center with a natural ambience and cultural elegance. Prioritized smooth, unobstructed movement and the seamless integration of all required functions within the space, resolved existing flow and functionality issues, creating ideal conditions for the space.

The sloped roof design posed challenges due to environmental and climatic constraints, especially how to support the steel structure in laterite adequately. Through precise dimensioning and complex ground improvement techniques and procedures, the design team overcome these obstacles. Using rust-effect paint, achieved a weathered, patinated look also posed difficulties because of the uncontrollable color variations. Ensuring a seamless appearance at material junctions required meticulous effort. Indoors, completing the ceiling design within a 7-meter-high space was another challenge that the design team had to overcome both in design and execution.
