Nestled in the vibrant city of Tainan, this five-story, 185-square-meter residential project redefines the modern family sanctuary by weaving artisanal textures into a sleek, minimalist framework. Designed for a family of four, the home acts as a canvas where natural materials, bespoke artistry, and thoughtful spatial flow converge to create a holistic and deeply emotional living experience.
The design philosophy embraces an "earthy elegance," utilizing a warm, organic palette of rich woods, tactile fabrics, and bold stone accents. The ground floor serves as a welcoming reception lounge and the patriarch’s hobby room. Here, a custom built-in sofa, a striking tiger rug, and a commissioned woven string art piece create a relaxed, tea-house-inspired atmosphere. Moving upward, the second floor forms the heart of the home. The open-plan living and dining area is anchored by a dramatic, dark-veined marble slab set against a backdrop of crisp fluted paneling. Light oak joinery and black iron-framed sliding doors balance warmth with contemporary definition, while a ribbed-base dining table adds sculptural interest.
The private quarters on the upper floors are meticulously tailored to individual personalities. The third-floor master suite employs an innovative island headboard that doubles as a functional desk, creating a seamless, doorless circulation loop into the walk-in wardrobe. This ingenious layout fosters an expansive, airy feel while maintaining distinct functional zones. The fourth floor houses two bedrooms for the college-aged children—one defined by a striking monochromatic palette and the other infused with soft greens and botanical motifs.
By celebrating the raw beauty of natural materials and integrating curated art pieces, the design transcends mere aesthetics. It establishes a highly personal, emotionally resonant retreat that evolves with the family, proving that contemporary minimalism can be both profoundly warm and effortlessly functional.
