This project embarks on the ambitious journey of transforming an old house into a warm and inviting residence. At the heart of the design lies the captivating concept of “color as an emotional space,” which liberates the project from the confines of a singular style. Instead, it delves into the nuanced interplay of color psychology and the tactile qualities of materials, thereby reimagining the emotional landscape between the inhabitants and their surroundings. To establish a cohesive aesthetic, the project employs a sophisticated low-saturation Morandi gray palette as its foundation. By skillfully layering materials such as glass, metal, and stone, it not only reorganizes the fragmented circulation patterns but also enhances the lighting conditions characteristic of the old house. Moreover, through a strategic arrangement of visual axes and focal points, the design successfully fosters a sense of emotional warmth while preserving a rational order.
The shared living space masterfully redefines the connection between the dining area, kitchen, and living room by utilizing transparent boundaries. A thoughtfully designed half-height wall, coupled with elegant minimalist glass partitions, facilitates an uninterrupted flow of sightlines and natural light, while simultaneously addressing the essential need for smoke containment. Furthermore, the serene backdrop formed by fog-gray cabinets and white marble-patterned walls is beautifully anchored by sleek metal frames and striking rose gold geometric pendant lights. In addition, the carefully curated layered lighting—including soft, indirect illumination alongside strategically placed cabinet-mounted wall-washing lights—elevates the overall ambiance, transforming the environment into a refined space reminiscent of an upscale hotel lobby. Thus, this harmonious blend of aesthetics and functionality creates an inviting and sophisticated atmosphere for all to enjoy.
The private realm serves as a canvas where color eloquently narrates emotional experiences. In this sanctuary, the master bedroom beckons as a serene retreat, enveloped in soft rose-pink upholstery that invites comfort. Complementing this calming palette, the herringbone wood flooring adds a touch of warmth, while diffused lighting gently bathes the space, creating an atmosphere of tranquility.
