Inspired by the concept of "a home for books," this project crafts a new digital experience for Taiwan's sole national-level library. While preserving the rich heritage of traditional culture, the designers have revitalized the system with modern techniques.
The interface features a line design that echoes the imagery of books, with each tab adorned by its unique line pattern. These designs, drawn from the visual inspiration of turning pages and the orderly display of bookshelves, are geometrically simplified to convey both the layered depth of paper and the structured arrangement of a curated collection—symbolizing the exchange and collision of knowledge and inspiration within the library.
Additionally, the system’s icons seamlessly blend traditional and contemporary aesthetics. Drawing inspiration from Chinese characters, they evoke a connection to the library’s collections and historical context during user interactions. In terms of color, the design employs maroon as the primary visual, resonating with the National Central Library's established logo and color scheme while also symbolizing the refined texture of precious documents.
