The Elegant Zen

This is an exquisite hotel project situated in Yilan, Taiwan, that revolves around the captivating theme of "Zen Style". The design is masterfully crafted, bringing together elements from the local history and culture, which seamlessly blend with modern architectural vocabulary and oriental elements, thereby creating a new interpretation of Zen imagery. The hotel provides guests with an exceptional and serene experience, as it offers a comfortable resting place, enabling them to find peace of mind, body, and soul amidst the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The tranquil and peaceful space is a testament to the hotel's dedication to providing a unique and unforgettable experience to all its guests. The entrance of the hotel is adorned with striking features that pay homage to the airport's early days. A distinctive design of a "paper airplane" is embodied in the form of substantial eaves and raised corners, adding a touch of historical significance to the modern building. The sloped roof, reminiscent of Japanese Zen aesthetics, creates a tranquil ambiance that sets an inviting tone for visitors. Moreover, the varying heights of the ridge provide an effective barrier against the elements, shielding guests from both rain and heat.
As we crafted the layout, we took into account several key concepts, including "viewing," "passing through," "single entry," and "double entry." Our primary goal was to fashion a peaceful and calming environment where our guests could take a wonderful break from their hectic schedules and discover serenity during their stay. The interior space is constructed using a significant amount of stone, teak, and cypress to create a seamless connection with the outdoor nature. This interweaving results in a fresh and elegant spatial feeling, providing a warm and soft touch to the area. Every corner of the space is like a small meditation retreat, giving people inner peace through the interaction of vision and touch.
