Design Issue:
The apartment, built in 1999, is showing signs of age, with poor natural daylight and ventilation due to its existing layout. This poorly designed interior not only limits the homeowner’s ability to display and expand her art collection but also diminishes the charm of her precious artwork due to clutter and disorganization.

Design Concept:
As the homeowner is an avid art collector, the design concept revolves around the essence of art as an expression of emotion and perspective. The space is envisioned as a passive canvas, allowing the homeowner to express her emotions through her curate art collection.

Design Strategy:

Spatial Layout: The layout is re-imagined to optimize space and enhance natural light and air circulation. Interior walls are repositioned to improve traffic flow and create an airy, illuminated environment, making the space feel larger and more open.

High Flexibility: The design allows for adaptability, transforming the space from a private retreat to an area for hosting guests. Mobile, minimal carpentry is strategically placed to serve practical functions while remaining discreet in the background.

Celebration of Color: The space features off-white walls and subtle timber shades, allowing the homeowner’s art to take center stage. Art is categorized by color to evoke specific emotions—blue hues in the living area promote calmness, green in the dining area fosters conversation, and dark brown in the kitchen offers stability and comfort.

Form: Curved shapes are incorporated to soften the rectilinear layout, adding visual interest and promoting harmony and protection.

A key feature is the dining hall’s curved wall, highlighted with embedded LED lighting, which showcases the homeowner’s favorite artworks and adapts to spatial needs when required.
