Stone Symphony

This case is a comprehensive elderly retirement residence located in Tamsui, Taiwan. Through tailored functional design and strengthened wall structures, not only providing a safe and convenient environment, but a space that can also be flexibly adjusted over time as needs change, reflecting a vision of the future and meticulous care. The addition of a tatami room and guest room also offers flexibility in response to family and social needs, making it convenient for relatives and friends to visit.

The design inspiration of the space also derives from changeable stone texture and Japanese culture, incorporating the concept of "one stone and one color in one space", using dragon and phoenix stone, board brick, and shoji doors to create an independent and distinct color and personality for each space. Different bricks and stones are tiled and stacked to blend the ever-changing landscape and to create a unique visual impression.

In the modern style of the space, the use of vivid stone textures to pave the walls, supplemented by Japanese shoji doors, showcases traditional Japanese elegance, while the consistent style and tone of metal materials and modern lines makes each space independent and echoing of each other.

To improve the convenience of elderly life, the designs comprises accessibility features: night lighting for guidance, strengthened load-bearing walls, retained flexibility for handrails in the future, and ergonomic functional planning to accurately meet the needs of elderly life.

The overall style combines natural brick and stone with Japanese cultural elements, interprets traditional aesthetics with modern techniques, and quietly embodies friendly elderly functions into the space for a balance of beauty and practicality.
